Crowd Controls launches with Iron Sky

I’m pleased as punch to announce that CC is live with our first film, Iron Sky. The team behind Iron Sky kicked up a fuss with their first film (and web series), Star Wreck, a Finnish language Star Trek parody. They built a huge online community and posted their whole feature film online, way before it was cool, resulting in over 8 million downloads. They’re way ahead of the curve with the new film, and they’re building up another huge audience, even before going into production.

Filmmakers like the Iron Sky team are exactly the reason why I created Crowd Controls. They realize that reaching an audience can be as hard as making the film, so they’re taking matters into their own hands. By the time the film is done, they’ll have a big chunk of data that they can bring to distributors or use to distribute on their own. I’d love to see CC helping out other filmmakers as well as musicians, theater producers, poets and other artists.

Crowd Controls is in private beta right now, so we can iron out any bugs as demand ramps up. But sign up here to get on the list for an invite, and we’ll let you know when we’re ready for you. In the meantime, take a look at what CC is all about, and keep an eye on Iron Sky and other great examples of artists reaching out directly to their fans.

…and if you haven’t checked out the Iron Sky teaser yet, this is definitely worth watching.
