Features
For Fans
- Bring the show to you. Even if you live somewhere that might not normally get the attention of big distributors, show them how many of you there really are.
- Get emails that are relevant to you and avoid ones that aren’t. Stop getting pestered about screenings in other countries.
- Privacy. Your email and location info are only shared with the filmmakers you signed up with. Any artists using Crowd Controls have to agree to our Privacy Policy, which requires them to keep your info private and to respect any requests to be removed from their lists.
- No dumb accounts. No need to create yet another account with a password to remember. Sign up or opt out with a simple form and one confirmation email.
For Artists
- Generate reports of aggregate fan-base size by city, country or region. Use these to determine where to screen your film or book gigs for your band. Show them to distributors and venue managers to demonstrate existing demand, rather than speculate on the results of future advertising expense.
- Maps are updated in real time, as soon as each fan clicks the confirmation link.
- Aggregate city data can be exported as live XML or JSON feeds so you can create your own widgets
- User input is validated in the AJAX form and on the server side so that only real email addresses and real locations are reported.
- Fancy schmancy location clustering algorithm finds groups of fans, even in small cities. Other sites base their clustering on city names, so even a large cluster of fans in closely located small towns might never show up as a critical mass worthy of a show.
- White label. You can embed the map and form on your site without any of our branding on it. Link back to us if you like. We appreciate it. Customize how it looks using standard Style Sheets running on your own site. You can even create custom icons to plot on your map.
- Export user email addresses as a spreadsheet (CSV) and use whatever platform you like to send messages or create reports (as long as you comply with the privacy terms).
- The embeddable form is built using standard HTML and Javascript, so it can go anywhere with a short clip of javascript code, and it doesn’t require Flash. (ahem. iPhone, iPad, etc.)
- Works internationally. Will accept any location that Google’s Maps API can handle as well as those in several other big databases. Will accept postal codes in those countries that have them, giving the most accuracy (but not so accurate as to violate privacy); accepts city names in countries that don’t have post codes. Fans can type city names in their own language and character sets.
